    Optical Grade Lithium Niobate Wafers

    Lithium niobate (LiNbO3, LN) crystal is a negative uniaxial crystal and is one of the most comprehensively characterized optical materials. LN crystal has a wide range of transparency in visible and mid-infrared light and good chemical and mechanical stability, which can be used as an infrared birefringent material.

    CQT provides up to 6" diameter, single crystal Optical grade LN material with reduced impurity levels. Other specifications can be provided are doped wafers: Er:LN, MgO:LN and Fe:LN.

    Lithium Niobate (LN) is a ferroelectric material with excellent electro-optic, nonlinear, and piezoelectric properties. Lithium niobate crystals are important materials for optical waveguides, mobile phones, piezoelectric sensors, optical modulators and various other linear and non-linear optical applications.

    The largest use of Lithium Niobate (LN) is in SAW devices used in telecommunication devices. When voice communication and data communication are performed, SAW devices such as SAW filters and SAW duplexers are mounted in communication devices as filters for preventing noise and interference. Lithium Niobate (LN) crystals are also used in optical applications.

    Lithium Niobate (LiNbO3) is a ferroelectric material suitable for a variety of applications. Its versatility is made possible by the excellent electro-optic, nonlinear, and piezoelectric properties of the intrinsic material. Applications that utilize the large electro-optic coefficients of lithium niobate are optical modulation and Q-switching of infrared wavelengths. Applications that use the large nonlinear d coefficient of LiNbO3 include optical parametric oscillation, difference frequency mixing to generate tunable infrared wavelengths, and second harmonic generation. Applications that use the piezoelectric property include ultrasonic transducer and SAW devices.
